April 2017 : KCIAPM Interactive Slide Seminar

The second slide seminar of 2016 was hosted by RV Metropolis Lab. The moderators were- Dr Ravikumar H N , Dr VaniRavikumar and Dr Santosh K.V.

 RV Metropolis hosted the Interactive Slide Seminar on 16.4.2017. Ten interesting histopathology cases were chosen for the seminar. They included neoplastic lesions from Renal System, Lymphnode, Soft Tissue, Male genital System, Ovary, Hepatobiliary System, Skin and Salivary Gland.

Forty five sets of H&E stained slides were distributed to all the Medical Colleges across Karnataka. Ten PG students from various Medical Colleges were selected to present the microscopic findings of each of these cases. This was followed by a detailed discussion, approach to diagnosis and differential diagnosis by the moderators.

All the cases were moderated by Senior Pathologists of RV Metropolis- Dr Ravikumar HN, Dr Vani Ravikumar and Dr Santosh KV. Time 9 AM to 1 PM. Best presenter award was given to Dr Mathew, from JSS Medical College, Mysore.

In addition, Dr Santosh KV gave an excellent presentation on grossing & reporting format of Nephrectomy specimens. Dr Vani Ravikumar conducted an interesting Spotter Quiz on Parasites

The seminar was well attended by about 80 PG students and the feedback given by them was excellent. Suggestions to conduct such slide seminars frequently and to host cytology seminars were given by them.
